Keeping The History Of Freedom

Removing Stabilizer

Warbirds of north America was founded to keep a very important element of the history of freedom alive for others to remember and understand. Throughout history, civilization has needed to develop a means to defend itself from aggressors; this has taken different forms from carrying spears to defending the skies with aircraft. Although the history of these different forms of defense are relevant and important, our focus is on the modern American military and the advancement of air combat.

The mission of Warbirds of North America is to keep the history alive and educate others on its importance. This will be facilitated through the restoration of a North American Aviation trainer designated as a T-28. Nicknamed the Trojan, the T-28 was used to train pilots to fly first generation jet aircraft. Although the T-28 is a propeller driven and has a reciprocating engine, many of the other systems on the aircraft are very similar to what is on a jet. This made it easy to fly while learning the complex navigation and control systems.  The education will include open hanger events throughout the restoration process. This will give an opportunity to various organizations to learn about the restoration, some of the difficulties encountered and give them an opportunity to participate with some hands on activities. Once the aircraft is completely restored, it will be flown to various events and air shows where its capabilities will be demonstrated. During the static display, participants will be encouraged to examine the aircraft in order to get a  real feel for the life of a military pilot and the significance of the T-28’s history. .
